!!!! - how can you possibly assume that political and corporate interests are aligned. The only reason that business deals with politicians is because government acts like mafia and extorts money from them. Businesses are effectively paying off the politicians to leave them alone.
There is much less inherent evil in big business than there is in big government. Business provides product and services to a willing marketplace. I don't think the same can be said about big government.
I also don't think that the concept of a noble society is resticted to less tecnologically advanced times or the 3rd world for that matter. Thank goodness that we have progressed from a frontier society so that we don't need to be concerned about such fundamental needs as going out to shoot our dinner each day.
